The Go The Distance Track is a VERY exciting way to race Pinewood Derby
® Cars. The set-up is quite simple.
- Assemble the Track according to the pictures. No fasteners are necessary. Each section overlaps each other approximately two inches. A little tape may be useful to help hold the sections together.
- Run a few cars down the Track to check if you need to have the starting area at the highest or lowest setting.
- Make sure that each race car has a number assigned to it.
- Use a crayon or a "Dry Erase" marker to mark where each car stops on the Track. Put the car's number next to their distance mark.
- Crowd control may be necessary at the end of the Track!!
- Awards. Always try to give as many awards as possible at a derby. You could give the 2nd thru 10th place cars the "Top 10" award instead of 1st thru 10th place awards. You could also give the SNAIL award for the cart that goes the shortest distance. This award can be the same size as the 1st place award. If you have ever watched a 26 mile marathon race, live or on TV, the runner that crosses the LAST gets more applause than the runner that came in 1st!

Using the Go The Distance Track as a testing track MAY CAUSE TEMPORARY BRAIN DAMAGE for the parent trying to figure out, "How do I make this car go faster?!" After making adjustments all night long, you may find yourself at sunrise, moving the car weight back a bit more, adjusting one of the wheels, trying more (or less) graphite, or anything else you can think of to get that car to move just a little bit faster and a little bit further.
